Kilt Makers in old newsreels
Fox Gun Tom posted up a few film reels from PatheBritain. What a treasure trove that web site is. I came across these two old news reels that might be of interest.

That's some awesome footage, and thanks for sharing it with us.
It was really something to see them move on those millitary kilts, in the first video. Those folks have obviously done that a time or two before.

They do make regular appearances here, but it's still great to see them

I must be out of the loop- This was the first time I've seen them.
To you, Paul, or any other kiltmakers that happen by- Are the apron edges generally outlined in such a... fluid and speedy manner? When I saw that bit, and them ripping the excess out of the middle, it seemed like they were just going at it sooo fast.

I don't mark mine quite so quickly , I use about 3 pins to mark the placeand fold back the fabric , top of waist, hip line , and bottom line.As to ripping, yes it really does happen that quickly!

Ver cool and interesting. An example of using pins in the second one - something my kiltmaker was taught not to do...different strokes

Really liked the quick demo of "pressing the pleats" rather than "ironing". Quick, easy and a process that all kiltwearers could adapt for their own situations.
