Re: New Loom Want to Weave
Very nice!
Anyone who knew it would identify your latest attempt as Wallace tartan, right off the bat. I'm glad to have been of a little service.

Re: New Loom Want to Weave
Thanks, Ryan.
I'm thinking of making several squares of just black, several of red, and several of red and black and then sewing them together like a quilt and weaving the yellow through the finished product, and black strands also. I think this may be an unusual technique to make a tartan, but thought that with my small loom I might try it.
Will post updates. What is your favorite plaid?

That sounds like a really cool idea, actually, and I bet it will yield some great results.

I'm partial to this one, but I'm also biased:

Re: New Loom Want to Weave
Way cool, Ryan! And also thanks for pointing me to the registry. I looked up my husband's plaid, Maxwell. Maybe I'll try that one soon.
Best wishes,
SWOZ

Re: New Loom Want to Weave
Maxwell should be fun to try, as it has a few extra stripes to play with.
Just remember to post progress pics, as around here, if there's no pics, it didn't happen.

Re: New Loom Want to Weave
So, I want to try Maxwell, but I'll have to wait until after Tax season probably. I'm a tax preparer for H&R Block and we're pretty busy right now.
Maybe after April 17, I'll look forward to doing Maxwell.
Hey, I spied a kilt wearer last week. The kilt was brownish/tan solid color and he had a green plaid tartan across his shoulder. I didn't get to talk with him to ask any questions.
Isn't it unusual to wear a solid color kilt? I thought that maybe it was some sort of uniform? What think?

Re: New Loom Want to Weave
Hmm... Did you notice any snaps/other hardware on the kilt? Could have been some sort of contempo-kilt.
If not, it was likely a tweed kilt, which is quite traditional, but now, not very common to see. Interesting...
And happy tax prep/weaving!

A warm Scottish welcome from middle England
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
