    Sock (hose) knitting loom

Has anyone looked at or tried an Evenknit Sock Loom or a Wonder Sock Loom?

These look like a nice tool for someone who does not want to learn to knit to knit custom hose. The pegs seem close together so that thinner yarn could be used or by skipping pegs thicker yarn could be used. Since they are adjustable some calf shaping would be possible as well as being able to handle different size feet easily.
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

There might be a serious problem with the looms having just 96 pegs - if that means that there can be only 96 stitches then socks for adults can only be made in thick yarn, or in two pieces perhaps, if the knitting can be done flat without breaking the pegs.

Using double pointed needles and ordinary knitting gives so many more options for patterning, sizing and thickness of yarn.

If using the advertised 'fine' gauge of 9 st to the inch then the maximum circumference is 10 and 2/3inches.

I usually work at 10 st to the inch.

But the institute doesn't let me have sharp pointy objects and it is hard to knit with crayons.

And beside I prefer circular needles in the 9, 10, 12 and 16 lengths.

It's fascinating to watch, but I think I'll stick with DPNs.

I'd hate to have to turn a heel (or work cables) with one of those hot-rods.
