Re: Where do wear like the lower edge of the kilt
I like anywhere above the middle of the knee. Any lower, and it feels weird on the back of my leg when I walk.

I have been told that if kneeling, it should just touch the ground? I wear mine (or endeavor to) at mid knee but i do have some slippage occasionally.

Re: Where do wear like the lower edge of the kilt
I like top of the knee cap, but my knee caps are different heights above the ground; I go a bit above the knee cap so I don't look tilted.
I find, as have others, that wearing the bottom edge to the middle of my kneecap is irritating to the skin on the back sides of my knee joints.

I would agree. Things on the back of the leg are irritating and a guy does not want to look tilted! I take lousy pics already. No need to fuel the fire!

Same with me here...anything from the middle of the knee and lower just bugs the back of my leg. Top of the knee is simply more comfortable and looks better to me.

Re: Where do wear like the lower edge of the kilt
As an 18th c. Highland reenactor for 20+ years, I wore (and still wear) belted plaids and philabegs. In the 18th c., there were no rules about kilt length (as noted by Edmund Burt in his "Letters From a Gentleman in the North of Britain"), so I generally wore them above the knee (sometimes well above the knee) when it was hot and at the top of the kneecap when it was chillier. That established my preference for "top of the cap" to maybe an inch above it when I started to wear modern kilts. Anything lower annoys me and makes me stop to hitch it up a bit.

Re: Where do wear like the lower edge of the kilt
Oops, hit the wrong button. I generally like my kilts at the top of the knee. At this height it seems to rub less on the back of my knee after a long day of kilt wearing than a kilt that hits at mid-knee.

An occasional dram couldn't hurt

If, when kneeling the kilt touches the ground , I'd suggest that is probably a little too long, perhaps an inch off the ground would be a little better?
I always think that a kilt is better slightly shorter than slighter longer.

Re: Where do wear like the lower edge of the kilt
i've tried at the top, mid-knee, just at bottom of kneecap and out of all three i found just at the bottom of the kneecap to be most comfortable. Top of the kneecap and I feel a breeze blowing through the back door, mid knee and it irritates the back of the knee, bottom of the knee eliminates the draft and back of the knee tickle. Of course this is my personal preference
