Eeeeeexcelent... That's another thing that craftsmen seem to have in common- They seem to love seeing their work go to good homes and get well used; I know I do.

Guys, not to change the topic, but I just have to tell you that I am working on a book of fishing poetry. Wheew! Got that off my chest.
Yeah, that's an excelent picture. Your buckles are so hard to capture in photos, Mark.

And when your book's published, I'll be buying a copy and quoting you on the board, at every opportunity.

I see what you are saying.

But the sadness is just as durable as the art and craft. It permeates, resonates, and eventually echos. The things one makes becomes a reminder of the sadness, and to what end?

Just as surely as the road to Perdition is paved with good intentions, so too is the road to Oblivion cobbled with scraps of wool and metal.

I guess I'm coming from the angle of personal edification, which, upon reflection, I doubt you indulge. On the other hand, population, specialization, mass production, etc. increases and craft gets relegated to those who can produce it and those who appreciate it. I view it not as sadness, but as living nostalgia.

The end, I hope, is that there is no end to the kind of work you and others like you do. A small-scale loop of production and appreciation. Your work generates its own joy...I would hope that it might interrupt the resonance and echo rather than amplifying it.

Of course. Where moth and rust doth corrupt, perhaps our words may yet live on.

Nope. Just me being sloppy with my words. I was referring to the addiction that some develop to extrinsic motivation. Help me with my vocabulary, please!
