LOL - love the guy in photo number 8 clinging to the upright while he resets the bar! Did he shin up the pole every time? Looks like a pro.

And wow! The lady athlete - amazing and inspirational for me - reminds me of a line from a poem I once read about female tennis players:

"Girls with faces like Raphael angels
And thighs like a battleship's hawsers."

Quite. Count me among them... one day soon. Though I think Raphael may have given up the day job if he produced MY face on an angel! I think the 'hawsers' are not out of reach though...

That's Heather. She is AMAZING! I'm in her practice group here in CA. I throw about half as far as she does on my BEST day... which, unfortunately, was not at Queen Mary.

That's Sonya, she ROCKS that kilt and can make the Buchanan tartan swish like no man on the hammer throw!

She's my fellow teeny tiny thrower and I'm always chasing her numbers.

I only saw him do it once but it was really stuck way up the pole and he was impressive

I was wondering about that. Although we here in the North state are sometimes a step or two behind the big city, we have discovered the benefit of ropes and pulleys!

It was a great day! You got a bunch of pictures of my friends and I. The guywith the caber with the determined expression, in blue is my friend and arch-rival, Steve Elliott. The guy in purple behind him is my friend Larry Sisseck...Larry and I tied for 4th place on Sunday.

The older guy in red is Vern Alexander, who set two World Records in the 70+ age class on Sunday.

And Heather totally rocks. TOTALLY rocks.... as does Miz GGGP.
