Jock my dear friend, with the dealings I've had with the USPS let me tell you - you're buggered!

Re: Kilt and necktie in matching tartan?
Regardless of tradition and my color-blindness, for myself I don't care to wear a tartan tie that matches my kilt. I don't even like to wear a different tartan of the same clan with my kilt. I do wear several tartan ties with my business suits.

The problem is, having been led astray, the rest of the world, including many Scots, now think that this style of day attire and even more unsuitable variations, is what they should model themselves on . It must be so, they think, it is seen that way on TV, film, CD and video.
It does, I am afraid, make me a tad irritated.
I get everything but the jacket color and the white shirt. Could you explain why these things don't work?

Yes, I have seen clan chiefs and pipers who have won the gold medal at both Inverness and Oban wearing tartan ties with their kilts. Nae'buddy died. These are folk that have been very much brought up "in the tradition". Just like other storms in teacups, like belt loops, etc, it's all about individual choice.
Andy Stewart: That brought back memories of the White Heather Club on telly when I was very young. I hated it, my Granny loved it.
Worse was to come. It became popular, and thereby this kind of dancing was introduced into local schools, (Ah'm spikkin' Aiberdeenshire here). At the age of about 6, (when all you want to do is collect frogs, shoot with your catapult and play at sodjers and also know in your heart that girls are the spawn of Beelzebub), we were forced to hold hands with girls and dance to accordian music in the gym hall. I'm surprised I am not relating this tale from a psychiatrist's couch.
