Well, Bruce's BFF "the Good Sir James" Douglas seems to have fit well with the Che comparison, as he seems to have been a superb guerrilla fighter. Actually, I recall one historian referring to him in print as "a pathological little terrorist".
I get the idea that in his time the appellation "the Good" was used to refer to him in the same way that the often capricious and dangerous Sidhe were referred to aloud (lest they perhaps be invisibly listening) as "the Good Folk".
A few examples, such as the "Douglas Larder":

Man, that would have been awesome... hit and run, harrass the foe at the rear, and all the rest. Actually, come to think of it, things might have actually started to look somewhat more like in the movie Braveheart. Save that Smuts would have undoubtedly ensured that Scottish independance was forthcoming sooner, and he would have later helped to establish an org that peacefully united the western European nations, resulting in an earlier onset of the IR.
If Jan Smuts had been operating in 13th century Scotland, we'd probably be living on Mars, by now.
Aye...Oubaas certainly was a man of many talents.

I may be misremembering the "little" part of the quote, though I don't think so. Unfortunately it was something I ran across perhaps 10-15 years ago; don't recall where, but the phrase impressed me.
The Douglas page I linked above, though, does conclude with,
After these three atacks on Douglas castle, James Douglas's reputation as a figure of terror was greatly enhanced. To the English he seemed to be able to appear from nowhere, wreak havoc and then disappear once again. The English dubbed him "the Black Douglas".
There actually was a Northern English lullaby:
"Hush ye, Hush ye, Dinnae fret ye. The Black Douglas will nae get ye."

It's a great turn of the phrase, if nothing else!

Seeing that my secondary school education was not in Scotland, no this was not how he was painted.

I merely got the idea from your original post to me.
I asserted that the Braveheart film portrayed Bruce as betraying Wallace to the English. I then stated that, as far as I was aware, this was incorrect.
You then told me I was wrong, and needed to educate myself more. ??
So what was I wrong about?
Listen pal, I don't know if your being serious or just trying to take the piss, but please read over your previous posts before contradicting yourself again.

Don't give the pin heads any ideas. I would hate to see Braveheart and especially Rob Roy out on X-Box. They are running out of new ideas of what to butcher - ahem, adapt - next.

Hey...those who do not study history are condemned to learn it from Hollywood.

I love his line in that movie where he is yelling at his father and screams, "I don't want to lose heart!"
Irony?
Anyhow, accurate or not, pretty decent acting.
I don't know if anyone has posted this series in a while, but I found it to be a pretty good watch:

I've not yet contradicted myself fo the first time, so it would be impossible for me to do it for a second time.
I've just reread all of my posts in this thread, as well as yours. Never once did I say that you were wrong in asserting that Wallace WAS NOT given to the English by Bruce. I did, however, suggest that if you wished to learn more about Scottish history, you might want to study up on it a bit. If you disagree with me here, then the burden of proof rests with you, not me.
But for my part, I'd like all chalked up to me just wanting to "take the p!ss", and no more said.
...other than that Jan Smuts avatars rule.
