I also own of his Cairngorme tweed kilts which is very nice He would be a good person to contact regarding your St Patrick's blue kilt. OH! and he is a proud son of Donegal.

Here's a few drawings of Irish kilts.

On the left is a solid red kilt, which I haven't seen before. On the right is a saffron kilt pleated all the way around, which I have heard some early Irish kilts were.

    Irish piper:

This one might be Scottish... but it is still a solid blue kilt and fits our discussion of such things:
    - Justitia et fortitudo invincibilia sunt
    - An t'arm breac dearg

Doesn't the top right picture show the pleats in the front?

There is another picture of this style of kilt in one of the threads currently running here. As I understand it, the pleats go all round.

See thread: Irish kilts Solid v Tartan, posts 28 & 32.

Re: Show us your Irish kilt(s)

I got my H of Scotland, Heratage of Ireland kilt and Lovat Green hose today - just in time. Sorry about the shirt - looked good with the Saffron kilt.
Think I have a yellow-gold top this shade. More green with an Elf hat an pipe.......

Update: This tartan color combo is real good a hiding my dogs hair. (apricot-fawn pug)

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.
