Thanks That is actually my main concern, along with the bolo tie LOL, and the rest has been just some fun daydreaming: hypothetical stuff.

Not sad at all...just not a Modern look [okay 5 button with a PC is mod]. And that's okay too. I was just trying to step out of the box a bit.

    Re: Modern Formal

Thinkin of mixin Modern & Western, I think of sumpin along "Doc Holidayish".

A smaller brimmed cowboy hat in black or grey
Your favorite weathered box pleat kilt
A longer than "normal" black jacket think Holiday or Earp
Waistcoat bright to work with kilt
    White formal shirt
    Western bow tie in black
    Boots in black

Okay, so I decided to pull the trigger on one of these:

    http://www.makeyourownjeans.com/inde...5446523c0a5f60

This is a test purchase so I ordered a jacket in Olive green corduroy. If it works out I'll order another, more formal, jacket in black worsted wool or silk. When it comes in I'll post some pics with it.

    I would wear:
Box pleated kilt in Stewart Black tartan
Dress shirt (style of collar and front placket to be determined by mood and what isn't at the laundry)
Self tie bow tie (not necessarily black)
    Formal Vest
Contemporary tuxedo jacket shortened for kilt
Arctic Fox sporran with black leather cantle (silver cantles simply are not my style)
    Hose in an appropriate color
Dress slippers in a dull kid skin

    Ok here I go,
A kingussie pleated to the muted stripe so the bright one flashes with the swish, navy blue velvet sheriffmuir 5 button double brested tartan vest(cut on the bias) mandarin collar flat front shirt in black or ivory, black or white(to contrast shirt) rabbit fur dress sporran, diced hose to match the kilt and black and white Dr. Martens brogues.
Not that I've thought about this at all.
