Were the Bills of Attainder specific to one person or small group of persons (e.g. a branch of a family) or were they wholesale--your name is Cameron, so you're attainted?

Then I was back in the kilt for an evening's piping, what a palaver.). There remains a degree of bitterness and animosity for some, yes. 266 years ago is a fairly short time in a country with a long history.
Yes, I understand that. Just as here in the US, some people get quite belligerent over topics such as our Civil War. But these aren't likely to be fixed by a government lifting of sanctions or somehow reversing policies which no longer matter. Just as a lifting of these Jacobite sanctions aren't going to make all Scots want to hug each other and share sloppy kisses. My question was more to the legal aspects of it. Are there people in Scotland today who are affected by Jacobite-era sanctions, and who are 'tainted' (that term came from the article) politically or legally?
In other words, I'm asking as an American who doesn't know, will this reversal somehow make a difference? Or is it just another attempt to make every government in the world apologize for what it did in the past?

Titles emanate from the Crown, not her government, and I don't think there is any discussion of Scotland becoming a republic and renouncing its queen.

Ignoring all the stupidity displayed in some posts...
This comes down to jurisdiction. The parliament at Westminster (not English, the British Parliament) attained the individuals and removed their titles. No other parliament in the world, including the Scottish parliament (before or after any independence), has the power to revoke those attainments, which would lead to the restoration of any titles.

You know, I know neither the history nor the legal morass well enough to comment on those, but I'm always in favour of righting wrongs, and I hate to see unwarranted stains passed down for so many centuries. Any comment that I could or would make comes from that point of view.

Please keep in mind that Rule 5 which may soon come to play in this thread. The OP was simply providing a link to information he thought would be of general interest. Asking questions that further his intent to provide education is acceptable; to make unfounded statements leading to confrontation or political discussion is not.
This is just a shot across the bow.
