Are you name dropping yet again Hamish?
Oh, come now Graham! Would I, of all people, do such a thing?
No my friend, I am merely speaking the truth here. There is a photograph of Mr. MacKenzie wearing the kilt at:
http://www.newyorksocialdiary.com/pa...es04_09_04.php
he is to be found in the 17th row of photos as you scroll down (or 3rd up from the bottom!). In the photo, he is wearing two detachable pockets, but I have only one as Howie wanted to keep the other "for sentimental reasons" - and besides, I don't care for two pockets! I hope to get a photo into my "X" Photo Gallery very soon.
If you REALLY want me to name drop, just let me know - I could write a book about the 'names' with whom I have mingled over the years!

Ham, what's the kilt made out of? I looked at the picture of Alistair, but I couldn't discern the fabric. It looks like either oiled leather, or worn velvet, but I'm guessing those are both wrong.
Oh yeah, I can express my honest jealousy, since I'm a huge Monarch fan. Congrats Ham!

Yes, Rufus, both are wrong! It is actually a dark, greenish-khaki coloured fine corduroy fabric, that has been hand treated with a commercial bleaching agent to produce a wonderful random pattern in a slightly lighter shading. When I first saw Howie wearing it, I took it to be suede.
It is actually quite a heavy kilt and is supremely comfortable with a good pleat swing. Added to which, of course, it is totally unique. I love it!

Ham, you're not rubbing my nose in it are you? Much more of this and I'll throw me dummy out of the pram
On a serious note the photo does not do the kilt justice, get your own taken asap, and show it to it's full potential.
I'm glad you got it, but don't mention it in front of me again
Cheers Rhino

Bleached Corduroy Kilt ("TFCK")
OK Boys! Here we are then. At last, a photo of my newly acquired bleached corduroy kilt from "21st Century Kilts" (or "TFCK") is now in my personal Gallery here at "X".

Rhino,
I have just posted a close-up photo in my personal Gallery of the arrangement of double buckles on the bleached corduroy kilt I acquired from Howie. This seems to me to be a simple method of allowing for "seasonal fluctuations at the waistline"!
Also, not photographed, the single strap on the under apron has been augmented with a second one, overlapping the first, which is sewn slightly further away from the apron edge. Either one can be folded back, out of the way, when not in use.
(That doesn't make much a lot of sense, but I know what I mean!!)
