On the whole I can't see that it is much of an improvement, though thankfully it hasn't gotten worse. There is one glaring problem, though, and perhaps someone who is in regular contact with the STA can pass this along. They need to adjust the z-index of the menu so the longer drop-downs do not disappear behind the central banner image.

Good point. As I mentioned in my initial posting, if you see bugs that need fixing the best thing to do is to email admin@tasrtansauthority.com and bring it to their attention. Thanks!

Mac, on the 12th when you talked about the new STA site, I tried it out. I found a serious problem and I reported this to the site you mentioned. I just tried it again today, the 20th, and nothing has been done to correct the problem. It is exactly as it was more than a week ago. I did send in another report but wonder if maybe I am just wasting my time.

I haven't looked at the Tartan Ferret for some time. I'm happy to see that the Stephen-Mathieson tartan has made an appearance. I'm also rather pleased with STA's interpretation of the colours, which I would describe as "ancient" by comparison to the fabric I had woven. Very nice.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

Hummmmm. I've had a quick run through some of the Tartans on the new website and cannot fathom out why some are in (i.e. publicly available) and other standard setts are missing. I think that there must have been a data migration problem. Very much work in progress and am engaging with the STA to sort out.

The new web site went live on the 18th, not the 12th, so in fact it has only been two days. I know there are multiple bugs to fix -- I myself sent Brian a few corrections I noted. Please keep in mind that the STA office is staffed by one man, and so updates and changes to the web site may not be fixed immediately. I'm sure your email was received and the bugs reported added to the list of issues to address on the site.

Sorry about my post Mac. I had checked back to see when you sent the first message and saw the 12. Didn't notice that it was the year and not the day. I have gotten a response from them and they are looking into the problem.

Many thanks for the update, Matt.
I went straight to the tartan designer and tried it out, producing a design that I found very pleasing. Saving it was another question, though – I will have to go through the instructions more carefully.
The other parts of the website look most interesting, and I will try to go through it in the coming days.
Regards,
Mike

Hey, it's now the 29th ...at night, and the ferret still looks like an otter. What's the hold up? All the other tartan ferrets are beginning to talk.
I like the lady in the Reeally tall socks though. I think I'll go look around sumore.

I noticed the other day that the Tartan Ferret had been updated.
