I seem to remember Howie of 21st Century kilts selling a belt made from airline seat belts. Very similar to your idea.

Got to checking around. the restoration guys have these seat belts too pricey. 21st century belts are 30# each. Bought a 2 x 60 inch wheelchair belt with nylon buckle - about 10 bucks - E-bay. Then checked the scuba idea - and bought a stainless steel compensating buckle for $20, The "compensatiing" here will be for a pig out meal not depth pressure Scuba.com has the non compensating stainless buckle for $5?
Thanks guys!
Last time it got hot in the boat, I was in a UK Survival. Remembered to remove the cargo pockets with my keys and wallet but forgot the leather belt. It permanently stretched about an inch.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I guess I'm not the only one scratching my head over that one either.
Does PV float? I could see wading or treading water in a PV kilt being pretty difficult, as it constantly tries to float up to the surface. And regardless whether you dive in head-first or jump in feet-first, modesty is going to be an issue!

Thank you, Tobus! I wasn't the only one thinking this was a BAD idea...I guess when company's around, you could wear a speedo or something underneath, but I think that defeats the purpose of the kilt....

You guys are under rating the kilt, it has a very wide variety of uses and advantages. Just use the right kilt for the purpose at hand. I have yet to find a need for those nasty things I used to wear before kilts in over two years - and I do things! Neither the kilt nor the tartans are "Holy Relics" to be kept in a glass case and worshiped. You are not showing any pride owning only closet queens. Sure, the really nice and heirloom tartans should'nt be "beaters". A lot of tartans are available in modern easy care fabrics. More tartans would be woven in PV if there was more demand for them. About the only thing I dont do in the Martan Mills PVs is change my oil - have cotton/poly Utilikilts for that. ( Oil permantly bonds to most synthetics.) I really think wearing a poly kilt swimming is more hydrodynamic than bare legs.

Web belts are quite plentiful in black with fast-tec buckles of all sorts. I bought one recently off ebay for 10 bucks free shipping. 2 inch wide by 60 adjustable. Here is the sellers url
http://stores.ebay.com/planetholster
I use it with my Stillwater nylon cargo sporran. For the sporran I found a carry strap from a bag that is also nylon web with swivel fast clips.
Id say any army surplus, gun and holster seller, even Bass Pro would have reasonable web belts. For the price it saved me having to mess with buying all the pieces and sewing up my own.
