Web belt for swimming

A recent post go me thinking of Rockys MM PV casuals as swim kilts. They dont carry much water and dry pretty fast. The problem is the leather belt. I would feel a lot more secure coming out of the water in a heavy kilt with one.
Thinking of making a 2 or 2.5 inch polyester web belt. First thought is get the seat belt out an old 60s-70s car. It has a buckle already would just need to sew the buckle mate onto the other end. These predate the auto tensoners so it would adjust like a regular web belt by pulling the tag end. Hmmm.

I seem to remember Howie of 21st Century kilts selling a belt made from airline seat belts. Very similar to your idea.

Got to checking around. the restoration guys have these seat belts too pricey. 21st century belts are 30# each. Bought a 2 x 60 inch wheelchair belt with nylon buckle - about 10 bucks - E-bay. Then checked the scuba idea - and bought a stainless steel compensating buckle for $20, The "compensatiing" here will be for a pig out meal not depth pressure

Scuba.com has the non compensating stainless buckle for $5?

Last time it got hot in the boat, I was in a UK Survival. Remembered to remove the cargo pockets with my keys and wallet but forgot the leather belt. It permanently stretched about an inch.

Web belts are quite plentiful in black with fast-tec buckles of all sorts. I bought one recently off ebay for 10 bucks free shipping. 2 inch wide by 60 adjustable. Here is the sellers url

I use it with my Stillwater nylon cargo sporran. For the sporran I found a carry strap from a bag that is also nylon web with swivel fast clips.

Id say any army surplus, gun and holster seller, even Bass Pro would have reasonable web belts. For the price it saved me having to mess with buying all the pieces and sewing up my own.
