I don't see it listed on his site as one of the standard tartans, but do you have a kilt in the State of Michigan tartan? It may have to be a custom weave, though, which could put it out of your budget.

Yes, I've seen one in the wild--a good looking tartan and I may consider it because with this kilt I'm planning on going with a universal or Irish tartan.

The Michigan state tartan would be a custom weave... it COULD be done, but the price would be roughly $800 for a Premier 8 Yard Kilt.

What colors were you looking for in the kilt? The rabble and myself could suggest a few universals for you if we know what kind of colors you're looking for.

Rocky--I really have open options here: Irish Tartans: Sligo, Mayo, Derry, Roscommon all have family links. Districts etc: Perth, Ayrshire, Loch Lomond, Skye--again, family history in all of them. Love the way IOS looks.

Plus there's the numerous universals to look at. I've eyed versions of Caledonia's I like.

Trying to get away from solid darker blues, greens and reds that aren't broken up by other colors.

Rocky--just an off the wall question: Much like the Michigan tartan is a special order, how is the ballpark estimate for "Oren Peterson" Scottish Register of Tartans 10127 ?

That is not a stock tartan anywhere. I got my hands on a custom run-enuff to make myself and my son matching set. These are being made right now and I am dying.

But Detroitpete, which tartans are you thinking of?

Edit: belay my last. I see you answered that in posts that followed Tobus, but I responded too soon.
