From photos, "170-lb weakling" seems self-effacing but perhaps you're just good with Photoshop :P
No kidding. From the photos of him, I've been wondering why he isn't already competing. He'd likely beat most of the guys I see competing already.

Oh, let's be honest. He's dreamy!

Tyler, I look forward to your progress. My 135-pound ACTUAL weakling self may just be inspired. Not to compete in Highland Games (Good Lord, that would be hilarious), but just to build up some muscle tone and find a shape other than "spongy-soft and trending towards round". Your workout log may give me some ideas.

Alan H made a reference to Charles Atlas in another thread, so that statement is just a nod to the old ads--"I used to be a 90 pound weakiling unttil I used the Atlas dynamic resistance..." or something like that. I will say, though, that compared to the beasts I've seen throwing, I feel like their bookish little brother.

So I've got pretty good-sized arms. As I understand it, they're pretty useless in getting a weight up over a bar. I've been running and light lifting with my legs the past few years, and that's where I need work. Used to have good explosive power down there--not so much now. Plus, I'll be learning to throw properly, without blowing out a joint.

And Tobus, if anything good results from anything I do, I'll be a very happy man. Make sure you let me know if this log helps you at all--I can tell all my detractors what a positive role-model I've become!

    Guid on ye, Tyler!!!

Just so you don't feel too small, I want you to look at this...

    http://www.ironmind.com:8080/ironmin...and_Games.html

THEY all weigh 180-190 pounds. If you do some deadlifts and squats and bench presses and landmines...and keep doing some pylos and some running to keep your fast twitch muscle, and throw A WHOLE LOT and find some other kindred psycho to train with, YOU can throw like those guys. I'm dead serious. You have all the potential.

Hey, regarding landmines, most of the videos on YouTube show guys waggling the bar back and forth in front of them with their shoulders....waste of time. However, Bert Sorin knows his stuff, he's an NCAA collegiate hammer champion. Not only that but he develops exercise equipment for his family company, Sorinex. So check this out.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAUsqWIA__g

Do ' em the way Bert does 'em at about 30 seconds in. BTW, those "pushes" he does at about 40 seconds are pretty good, too.

Out for a quick warm-up around the 'hood. Ow Ow Ow.

    Stretching

    Incline Press: 4x6x185, 3x10x155

    Bench 3x8x225

Overhead press 4x10x115 I used to do these seated with 145 lbs. Switched to standing to incorporate more core and balance work into it. Much more better. Harder, but better. I find I arch my back less, too.

Planning on changing up the order on the presses from workout to workout. Get fatigue hitting different muscles at different times.

Upright dumbell rows 4x65x8-10 alternating arms

    Floor core work

Thought I might go for a run last night. After the deadlifts in the morning, my legs were...dead. I had a pleasant walk, instead.

    Whoah. Somebody's got guns.

I could maybe do one of those...no way on this earth could I do all three in the same workout.

Not many can resist my sweet cookie crunch and dreamy middle. Your apologies are unnecessary.
