    Being a "real musician" like she is, she deserves a nice Practice Chanter that plays well and plays in tune... which many don't. Try a Gibson "long" which has a nicer tone than most.

    This is an example of how ordinary plastic Practice Chanters with ordinary plastic reeds can play in tune and have a pleasant tone. (You'll hear people say that Practice Chanters, as a species, are inherently out of tune and unpleasant-sounding.) This is two Gibson "long" practice chanters rigged up with a special double stock; using two chanters allows me to play in harmony

    I will echo Richards advice, I use a long MacLeod. The long chanter is closer to the true fingering on the pipes and makes the transition easier
