    I don't get any respect.
I heard that in your best 'Rodney Dangerfield' accent.

I think some time I'll have to get something from them ... maybe if they have the Newfoundland, Anderson, or Maple Leaf tartan in an affordable (for me) kilt

Your kilt looks great and I'm sure with the pleats are swooshing about, they will add even more.

As Pugasso mentioned, you kilt is pleated to the sett. Just to show the difference, here's the same tartan pleated to the red stripe. It looks a bit different coming and going:

Very nice tartan! But I may be biased since I am also a Smith. I think you will look great for the wedding.

And thank you and Shaun for the pleat pictures. It's nice to see the different looks a tartan can have.

    Thanks! I hope so.

There will only be three of us in kilts. The Groom, Bestman and Myself. The Groom's Father will be wearing a conventional suit. As part of the ceremony I thought it be fitting for me to wear a klit, since I'll be walking my Daughter down the isle.

I would have had to buy a suit anyway. I thought about how much more memorable it would be if I spent half of the money I would pay for a nice suit, and buy the kilt instead. I hate suits (too much ridge-runner in me), and kilts are one heck of a lot more comfortable.

    Thanks again!!

I almost missed your thread! That's a beautiful kilt. It looks very good on you. Enjoy wearing it.

I really like those buckled shoes. Where did you get them? I could use a pair like that for Burns dinners, etc.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Well, oddly enough I got the shoes on ebay while looking at Ghillie Brogues. I was looking for something that would give an impression, or a sense of period style for the wedding. And at the same time be suitable as regular dress shoes.

I paid $60 for them in lightly worn, if at all, condition. They were like new when I received them. I've since found that they are "Barker's" made in England, and retail in the neighborhood of $200 to $300.

In your size, $60, and "like new"? You got a steal! Good catch. Congratulations.

Thanks! I was quite pleased when I found what they were. Problem is that I'm flat-footed, I was born without archs in my feet like normal folks. Consequently, my foot is wide and doesn't abide a lot of shoe types. I had to stretch these to conform just a bit. And still, 3-4 hours is the maximum I can wear them.

I have the same problem. If the Barkers have a foot bed, you might try removing it, or replacing it with a Spenco foot bed. They make several kinds. I use their Total Support and it makes a huge difference. But, that particular model has a metatarsal pad and may not work for you. But, one of their other models might. In any case "good luck".
