Let me ask a question which I hope does not get us moderated.
In the US, we are bombarded constantly with political ads. On TV, radio, in print, the Internet and on signs beside the highways are candidates' names and the reasons they think they're worthy of being elected. Is it the same way in the UK? Do you have a steady barrage of political advertising? And, please, a "yes" or "no" will suffice, to keep us in good standing with rule 5. Thanks.

No, but there is often a great number of 2' x 3' posters.

Thanks, Chas. We now return to our apolitical discussion.

I purchased my first telephone answering machine this season. My phone ringer and ears were getting worn out. Ringer off - Aaah blissfull silence. My TV is mostly my computer monitor now. I only watch my TV shows off the DVR where I can burn all the ads. My house is now my home again.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Maybe someday in a perfect world we'll see a debate between two candidates with both wearing kilts.

Just imagine the questions and answers:
"Candidate A, how would you fix the economy?"
"Well, I'd just like to say how thrilled I am that you asked me that question. I feel that the economy needs more sporranmakers, and I'd like to encourage the sporran business by reducing taxes on sporran chains."
"Candidiate B, how do you respond?"
"Everyone knows that the tax breaks really should go to sporran strap suppliers, not chainmakers, and my record shows that I've always supported strapmakers."
And so it would go...

It would probably be a good idea to avoid "town hall" style debates, though, since I'm sure at least one goober in the audience will ask "the question".
