Boy, you guys (particularly piperdbh) are sure lightening up my day today. Very rare I get a good laugh in the middle of the afternoon unless it's at a client who just left...
I understand France has their act together with this #5 stuff. The states could sure emulate them, or about any other example. It's absolutely mind wrenching here!

I can't wait for politics to be over so I can listen to incessant "buy stuff for Xmas" ads for the next two months.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Frank,
We're considered a swing state. My mailbox is crammed with ads daily and TV is practically unwatchable. My entertainment of refuge is our public radio jazz station, that you too can listen to at KUVO.org

As a matter of fact, Rocky has already posted a "pre-Xmas sporran sale".
And actually, when it comes to the LOOOONG lead time with most kilt-makers, I actually support the idea of Christmas sales by kilt vendors starting some time around Labor Day!

We have Direct TV, and they have a bunch of audio-only music stations with no commercials at all, which is about all I listen to on TV. Usually I'm at 834.
I'll keep that KUVO.org in mind Taj. I love jazz! Thanks.

Yes, but one would be wearing traditional garb and the other contemporary.

Red state. Blue state. Tartan state? It may be just a state of mind, but unlike Grocho, it's one thing I'm not against.
As a wag once said, "Don't vote. It only encourages them." Three more weeks of madness and we can get back to more serious discussions, like single malt vs. a good blend.

In the US, we are bombarded constantly with political ads. On TV, radio, in print, the Internet and on signs beside the highways are candidates' names and the reasons they think they're worthy of being elected. Is it the same way in the UK? Do you have a steady barrage of political advertising? And, please, a "yes" or "no" will suffice, to keep us in good standing with rule 5. Thanks.
No, because there is less time between when an election is called and when it takes place. OTOH, that could change if the UK switches to fixed terms, which has been talked about. Don't know if it got any further because - I am in the US, LOL! (Although not an American)
