As I head towards the tills a gentleman spys my kilt (no eye contact),
As I pass him he mutters "Republican",
I stop and face him and say "No. Monarchist."
Only then does he make eye contact and says "That's OK then."
It obviously was in reference to the up coming Scottish Referendum, but and this is important, it would not have happened if I had not been wearing a kilt.
There will be highland games in England in 2013 and in referendum year of 2014. One can only wonder what effect there will be on them as time gets closer.

If Scotland does secede, do you think it will be safe to wear a kilt in England!

I love how this line of discussion so closely resembles the nature of the subject that goes undiscussed. Lol.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

After watching parts of the politcal show that is now bombarding the US, I am so very glad that I have satellite TV and plenty of movies. I've done my research and know whom I'll be voting for. And political enquiries are treated as though it were "The Question" being uttered by a person who just doesn't get the hint.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Ha! I hear you, Bill. Netflix has got a lot of business from our household as of late.

As I've got older, I've come to dislike politics more and more. I hate election time because it's so difficult to watch anything on TV or listen to anything on the radio without being bombarded by political ads. I wish there was a Rule 5 imposed on all media so we could live in peace. (The only time we would hear about politicians is when they actually said something or did something worthy of notice.)
Religion I'll talk about all day! Or linguistics. Or history. Or genetics. Or the movies. Anything but politics! I just don't want to hear it.

Apparently in France Presidential (and maybe other) elections are held to something like 6 weeks, and no TV (maybe radio too) ads allowed. All reporting by news media on candidates must insure equal time for opponents, even to the point of whether such interviews appear on the noon or evening shows. Seems to me a much more intellectual way to go about selecting the chief elected official of a civilized country.

My wife had the best line about this:
"Wouldn't anyone in a kilt be considered living in a swing state?"
Actually took me a few seconds ...

But they think everything they do is worthy of notice!
