[QUOTE=Chas;1133098]Pack and wear your kilt anyway. You will have better experiences with it on.

Chas is 100% correct. Pack it and wear it. It will make for a much better time.

I agree. I found that the kilt was an excellent conversation starter in Santa Barbara and never received any negative reaction.

For ease of transport I am going to take my utilikilt with me. I have a small bag that I am taking and I don't want to take the tartan one with all the accessories at it needs

You may want to rethink that KR. Utilikilts are a dime a dozen here in California and nobody is going to think twice about it, whereas a nice tartan kilt will definitely get some attention. If you don't want to pack it then wear it on the trip out here.

Well it will depend on the suit case i take with me. If i take a tartan kilt, then i need to pack a sporran , hose, shoes,...... the whole 9 so to speak. I really dont care if I am a dime a dozen. I dont wear my kilt for people to comment on. I really wanted to meet a few local Xmarks folk on the west coast. Well I fly @ 730 tomorrow AM( Mon AM) so the UK is in the list for now

I, too, have worn my kilt all over Santa Barbara. Do you have a PV kilt? I have found that they travel quite well. I am in the south bay of Los Angeles and it was nearly 90F today, so you won't be chilly.

I do have a PV kilt its an XTMS tartan from Rocky, I am just not sure if I want to pack all of the additional gear that a Trad Kilt requires.
