As you are visiting Inverness have a look at "Chisholms of Inverness" and they are to be found just behind the castle. Not the cheapest of options for sure,but they are amongst the very best and I can personally recommend them.
What a bummer... when my wife and I were in Inverness it was a "Bank Holiday" and all the shops were closed.
We did visit the amazing sporran maker Alexander Robertson.
