Nollaig Chridheil Huibh!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE RABBLE!!!
Like the proverbial "Ghost from Christmas Past" I'm able to find a few moments to poke my head in the door and catch you all up on what I've been up too.
I'm still slugging away in school (this is what has been keeping me away from XMTS). I'm in my 2nd year of my 4 year quest for a bachelor's in Criminal Psych. While I struggle with math (its my Achilles heel), when it comes to my criminal justice courses etc, my instructors call me their "rock star!" I guess you can teach an old dog some new tricks.
At the beginning of this school year I was also elected as the "Chief" of the school's criminal justice club, and this position has kept me *very* busy. I and my officers set the bar high for the other clubs on campus when we teamed up with our local sheriff's department and their annual Project Santa fundraiser. We were able to raise (on-campus) over $1,000 in donations that went to Project Santa (bringing Christmas to the underprivileged children in our county). Then on the 16th the justice club (with yours truly in charge) assisted Project Santa (again) with security at their shopping event, as well as taking children shopping for Christmas presents (see photo below). It was quite an experience.
After the 1st of the new year, not only will I be hitting the books again, but I'm looking forward to getting back into martial arts (need to get the ol' body in shape & keep it that way!). Back in the early 90's I studied Aikijujutsu, but after the dojo closed down & moved back east, my pursuit of the arts ceased. Anyhow after the 1st of the year I will be joining the local Aikido dojo. I'm pretty excited!
Anyhow, I hope that everyone is doing well and that the new year will smile upon each & everyone of you. I do miss my time on XMTS, and I think about you all often. I hope you & yours have a very merry Christmas!
