    Great responses so far. FYI Geoffrey Tailor sells Clan Donald coth in a 9" sett if I'm not mistaken and House of Edgar's 13oz is about 7.5" which means if they keep their thread count the same the 16oz might be about 9" as well.

    When you say Geoffrey Tailor sells it, do you mean the tartan they weave themselves? A 9" sett would be fantastic! Thanks.

    It's their "Auld Reekie" line... 16 oz cloth that they weave on site in the Edinburra location and use it for some of their kilts (along with Lochcarron, HOE, etc). They don't wholesale it, so you'd be stuck using them as the kiltmaker ("Stuck" is a relative term as they've got a great reputation in their own right).

    They have a well deserved great reputation as a kiltmaker (I have a kilt from them which is excellent), but they are certainly not the cheapest, if you see what I mean.
