Speaking as an individual, I find the above comment to be unfair, that human beings are somehow rare on here.
We are all human beings trying to be sensitive and fair in emotive and difficult circumstances.
People are allowed to disagree and the fact of their disagreement does not make them unsympathetic or less human.

I will not be cast as the bad guy in this thread, because I am not. You all have the right to your opinion and so do I. What do you think the poll is for at the top of the page, if not for both sides of the argument?
We have rules here at X Marks the Scot, which in a lot of ways sets us apart from many of the other forums. We have rules in society. Those of you who were in the military know that their rules are rigorously enforced.
I content that this thread is about a gun crime and the aftermath of that crime and violates Rule 11 "the weapon itself or its use".
Just because this is the Miscellaneous Forum, does not mean that anything goes. The rules are the rules and nowhere in the rules does it say that rules will be relaxed in different areas.

@ Nighthawk -
Sorry to offend you with the events of my life.
I am not offended by the events of your life. I disagree with you. I think you are misguided for starting this thread. I am merely the man who has a different opinion to yours - I am not your enemy. There is really no need to take umbrage.

No. As I see it this is a discussion about a man's day in court, how a terrible tragedy is being handled, and how our courts deal with evil bastards.
Maybe we will all learn something from this. It may not be what we hoped to learn, but it could be beneficial to us all in the end.
Further, I can not help but think that this must be incredibly trying for Mr Nighthawk, and having an outlet where he can vent a bit is healthy. Even if his original post was out of order for not being kilt related I would hope that someone in the cyber-brigadoon brigade would have had the sense to PM him that it was, and provide an ear in a behind the scenes setting. But to blast him with an insensitive reply fitting for a troll shows a complete lack of empathy.
It also bears reminding, one does not have to read every thread and post that is created. It's as simple as pushing the back button. Of course pushing the back button, and pretending that this never happened doesn't change a thing.
Nighthawk, I wish you well, where ever you land in cyber space.

Nighthawk, i can only imagine the horror and pain you've been through. I hope you and your family find some peace and closure when this case is over.

No sir, you are not a troll, and I hope you have just misunderstood my point, and are not presenting a straw man ( which I don't think you'd do).
To clarify; I felt the tone of your reply was such that you were treating Nighthawk as if he were trolling.
My apologies if you felt otherwise. No issues with our disagreement, but let's keep it on point.

Chas, you disagree with WHAT exactly? That we went through this is not an opinion. That the media can't accurately portray what happened in court is not an opinion (there's a partial gag order.) That I was there Monday and this morning is not an opinion. I didn't state anything debatable, anything opinion- just that I was in court, that things went horribly wrong for all of us in the courtroom, and that I needed to get a little greif off of my chest. What are we disagreeing about here? That you and I are friends? I was certainly wrong about that. I wasn't even going to waste my time posting here again, but I really want to know what you and I are disagreeing on. I don't remember posting any opinions. Just experiences.

Chas - the poll should not be there for members to vote upon, it was created whilst the thread was moved to the Holding Cell for initial Moderator discussion before it was returned.
It should therefore be ignored.

Trefor - it is still available for all to see and vote on - and they are.
