    Thanks! Good to know which is correct, the colour strip or the computer-generated patch of tartan. Any chance that the STA could correct their site? (In general I follow colour strips, due to their being more clear as to the exact construction of the tartan.)

    About that c1880s plaid, any photos of it in existence? It would be nice to see the original, to get the feel of the colours etc. From what you're saying the second sample above is closest to the original plaid, but the computer-generated colours are so bright and garish it's hard to imagine what the actual cloth looks like.

    I've emailed Brian to ask him the get a change order it with the tech team.
