Gonna be in the south mid-April. Promise me I won't see snow? I'm tired of shovelling.

South as in US? No promises. It was spitting snow here all day today. Very little in the way of accumulation, butchya never know....
Re the snow in the British Isles: I hope it doesn't linger. Old folks saying here is, if the snow sticks around, it's waiting for more to fall.

There are often times when folks ask me to arrange good weather for them. I just explain that I'm in "sales" not "operations."

*** I learned that early in the Canadian Forces Reserves from a fellow Chaplain. I think the troops began to hate seeing me. My first major exercise it rained so much that it became known as "O God '90" instead of its official title "En Guard '90". I was also on a major exercise at CFB Suffield in late August when we had a snow storm. I take no responsibility for either good weather or bad. ith:

April, and still bitterly cold.
No snow, but gloomy clouds and the air is so cold. More like February.

Well here just north of the North Downs (that is not how Croydon is usually thought of, but it's accurate) the sun is shining nicely and yesterday looked like spring from indoors. It was rather nice to have sunshine through the windows.

The snow is gradually melting here in Wolverhampton. As it melted in the front garden, it revealed a cloth rainbow-coloured mouse - has some unfortunate cat lost its toy in the snow? My cats would love it, but I'll leave it for now in case its owner returns!

These days I have to grade the slopes according to how my knees are doing that day - though with my walking poles I can get along fairly well even on a bad day and rough ground. I think that mountains might be a little more than I can manage now. I do remember, most fondly, the soft ground of the Pennines where I used to wander - the chalk hills of the South are so hard underfoot.
Yesterday - 4th of April, there were snowflakes falling for an hour or so - it was not cold enough for them to stay frozen on the ground, but it was rather a novelty. So far we have had a few snow showers but snow on the ground has been limited to a light covering for a day or so.
Another novelty is the fires breaking out in the Highlands due to the very dry weather up there, but there is fear that the flames will have destroyed the nests of some eagles, and further outbreaks could cause serious trouble for migrant birds arriving to nest.

No, south of England. Will be in Crawley mid to late April. No snow right? Right?!

Sorry to "snow" on your parade but the weather people here are forecasting snow until the end of April - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...s-8550900.html
