Yes, I saw those. What a great sporran they will make! I take it they are not available yet, and not yet priced, so I have no idea when I would be able to get one. Plus look at the line-up already! It's not only availability, it's my meager budget.

On top of that, now that I am where I am, do I start buying a brown sporran and match it up with home-made kilt and sporran belts and some good medium brown shoes I own, or should I stay with the black accessories and get a Prince Charlie outfit and a black dress sporran of some type (with a cantle). I just don't know how often I would wear a PC outfit, plus I would need a tux shirt, studs and cuff links and all. Having said that, I would like a tank in ancient Campbell too. Now we're into 4 digits, which is more than I can count on my fingers...

I think probably a brown sporran is next. I have the blanks to make the belts.

This stuff all needs to percolate...

I run into the budget problem pretty regularly as well. The way I decide is to ask what I will get the most use from. I would love to have all of the different formal/semi-formal outfits, but who am I kidding? I can count the number of formal events I've been to in the last 20 years on one hand and have fingers left over. With that said, I say go for the brown accessories. It will give you more looks with what you already have and it will double the looks you can get from anything you buy in the future. Besides, I find the Campbell tartan to lend itself much better to brown accessories than black. I think that black sometimes looks too stark on the cool colors of the tartan. I really think they look smashing with brown. And I'm not saying that because I'm a MacGregor.

I needed a good giggle, thanks for that MacGregor! I think yer correct, and that is the way I will go for now anyways.

Here's a giggle back for ya. I was getting kilted up for Burns Night, but couldn't remember that I made made a black kilt belt. You wouldn't believe what I went through when I got home from work trying to change the color of a good medium brown kilt belt to black. Finally, I had had it (it wasn't working out real great) and was just gonna wear it as is. Then I go in to get my kilt out, and there is my black belt...

No worries, either I will change back the one I tried to change to black, or I will just make another one. I have a bunch of veg tan 8-9 oz leather in my shop just waiting for me!

    Hahaha...
I totally understand. I've been known to search fruitlessly for longer than I care to mention for my sunglasses... only to find them sitting on my head.

Indeed... but it usually beats the alternative.
