Aye! Bonnets are bonnie, balmoral or glen... Tis just as smart now as e'er it was then.

knit hat with a toorie won't suit me, I'm sorry, I'd rather just bare my head.

I wear other hats, be they cowboy or flats, baseball or tilley, no headdress is silly.

Depends on the day, I'm happy to say, I've worn all of them and shall do so again!

Honestly I realy don't put much stock in how the unkilted community thinks I look while kilting, I personally don't care for toories. Though I can see the irony if it were a matter of caring about the opinions of the various peoples who don't understand kilts. I have considered a beret, but I think it feels like I was just settling on the closest thing I could find.

Most people wouldn't know whether your Balmoral was supposed to have a toorie or not. Only those familiar with traditional Highland dress might notice its absence.

Is this really such a big problem, Sir Didy? Read the posts by Jock Scot and David Thorpe: if you want to appear in public in traditional Highland dress and wish to have your head covered (for whatever reason) wear a Balmoral. If you don't like the traditional toorie on the traditional Balmoral, lose it. If you don't care what observers think, wear a slab of bacon up there, but not a beret for heaven's sake.

The sheepskin-lined old-fashioned aviator's hat (bomber hat) is one option, I see... not one I would think of as looking good with a kilt!

Pretty close to the cost of Mackie made Balmoral too! But, you buy it once and you never have to buy one again...unless of course you desire bonnets in multiple colours.
