Just bought a couple of new kilts

I am new to the wonderful world of kilts and have purchased two 16oz ploy kilts from these guys (one in heritage of scotland tartan, the other in heritage of ireland tartan). Have been very impressed with the quality of them. Has made me a total kilt addict, so much so that I will be saving my pennies to have a "proper" woollen one made.

It was sod's law that 4 days after I bought my first kilt they started the BOGOF promotion. Unfortunately I wasn't able to raise enough cash in time to take advantage of it. Even though they have raised their prices on the website, they still their stuff on Ebay where the prices are slightly lower (it's where I got my two from and has really fast delivery within the UK).

Cannot wait till Friday when I wear my new one out for the first time

I'm a buyakilt.com fan too. I have their Heritage of Scotland 8 yard P.V. a Black 8 yard P.V. and a 5 yard Grey Granite kilt. They seem to be well made, with great quality, and great fit & feel. To me the P.V. feels like gabardine wool, instead of worsted wool

The fallowing statement is just my observation, and not a response to any one's post on this thread:

I think that if the poster t_challa (as well as myself, and many others too) would not have had the opertunity (or motivation) to get started (kilting) if inexpensave synthetic kilts wern't avaliable.

I know that I started with about 5 non-wool kilts, and now have those 5 kilts + 4 made to measure wool kilts as well.

I can say with out hesitation, or reserve that if the less expensive kilts hadn't been avaliable as a "starter" kilt, and full wool was my only option, than I'd probably never have ending up buying a kilt, any kilt, much less (to date) 4 full wool beauties too.

The "entry" level kilts allowed me to find out how much I enjopyed kilting, and those first P.V and synthetic kits were what motivated me to go a bit further.

That first $65.00 eBay kilt was the seed that motivated me to spend the other monies, and most of it (proportionately speaking) in Scottish stores, and with Sottish tradesmen.

While I've heard that some people don't think that there's a place in the kilt world for the "Pakistani kilt" (which I'm using as a generic name for most non-Scottish made, non wool kilts), it would be interested in knowing just how many (initialy) eBay kilt purchasers (as in my case) have gone on to generated loyal, and happy full wool Scottish made "tank" and "Casual" kilt customers.

While we'll never know the answer to that question, it would be an interesting answer just the same.

Just my observation. AND, I like buyakilt.com. They look great and wear like iron.

I feel better now. These are my first non-historical kilts and I just wasn't sure about the shop. Can't complain about the shipping, I had them within 3 days. I had been needing a couple of kilts that were more everyday. My box pleated philabeg was getting worn to death and my belted plaids are a bit over the top for most of the "nicer clothes but not dress wear" things like church and such. Now on to the bigger task of finding a decent price on a Ferguson weathered for formal wear.

I agree with Stan, if not for the inexpensive kilts I never would have dabbled with the kilted life. I have one Buyakilt.com, two HoS and two USAkilts. My favorite are the USAkilts and I do plan on purchasing more. But now I am within 3lbs. of my weight loss goal, and have made a deal with my wife if I maintain my weight for at least a year I will be purchasing my first 8 yard tank. In the meantime more USA kilts because I really do like the made to my measurement kilts.

Totally agree with the above comment. Without the readily available off the peg kilts I would never have taken the plunge and become a kilted man. I am now saving up for a full wool hand made as a treat to myself for my next birthday.
