Pockets or No
Without getting into the traditional versus contemporay discussion what is your feeling about pockets on a kilt?

Do you mean that there are some kilts that don't have pockets?
How bizarre!

No pockets on my kilts. That's what the sporran is for!

I don't have 'em, but I may add some really plain ones to the under-apron. I just have to much stuff for most sporrans.

I like the idea of hidden pockets, I don't own any kilts with them but it's on the list

As the owner of a Freedom Kilt with slash pockets, I love them. I don't necessarily miss the pockets when I wear my other kilts, but I love having them on my Freedom Kilt.

Should have a "sometimes" option. While my kilts haven't had pockets, I can see the value.
Clan Mackintosh North America / Clan Chattan Association
Cormack, McIntosh, Gow, Finlayson, Farquar, Waters, Swanson, Ross, Oag, Gilbert, Munro, Turnbough,
McElroy, McCoy, Mackay, Henderson, Ivester, Castles, Copeland, MacQueen, McCumber, Matheson, Burns,
Wilson, Campbell, Bartlett, Munro - a few of the ancestral names, mainly from the North-east of Scotland

I am in agreement on the sometimes option. Really depends on the kilt, the day, the event, and the mood for me.
[COLOR=#0000cd][I]I'm only off-kilter when my kilt is off.

I do not carry heavy possessions in sporran. I let my kilt hang free.I carry personal possessions in pockets of warm tweed Kilt jacket or pocketed ex issue white civvy uniform shirt.worn by..police, prison service, customs, coast guard.I sometimes carry a small shoulder bag and tie car keys to kilt belt. I find it easier to carry a male shoulder bag than rummage in my sporran. Still I have been doing it for over thirty years. Tried the bum bag; not comfortable.
Some Highland regiments not issued with sporrans. Usually had webbing backpacks and breast pockets on battle dress jacket.
Attachment cases on kilt belt might be handy. The kilt wear attachments are not traditional, they are worn in the twenty first century ,so try new attachments on belt with traditional kilt with no pockets.Worn my present traditional kilt for thirty five years.
We no longer carry daily supply of porrage oats and musket balls in the sporran,or long dirk, claymore sword, two pistols, and set of cutlery on kilty belt.
I only carry a dummy plastic sgian dubh from scotwebb in my standard dark green kilt hose. That is another issue of the dress code.
Check out skirted lady traffic wardens and female railway conductors with the amount of equipment they carry on cross over shoulder belts over their simple pocketless skirt uniform.
Cross over shoulder bags, biker style could be the answer Roderick.
