Sadly, I haven't any kilt pins of yet. Am still looking for that "just right" one. Just thought I would post that I have enjoyed viewing the collections. My personal fav was the Kwakiutl Sun one.
[COLOR=#0000cd][I]I'm only off-kilter when my kilt is off.

Pushed the bids to 16 quid for the little one (top)to secure it and a day later spotted the big one but from a different seller at the opposite end of the country. What are the chances of that? thought I. Never seen one before or since and like buses, they suddenly crop up in twos.

I had the larger one on a watch list but was working when the auction closed so I missed it. As it turned out there were no bids and it went unsold so I contacted the seller through ebay msg, explained why I'd missed the end of the auction and asked if I could buy after the fact... all through ebay of course... all above board.

She offered it to me for £5 + post. I readily agreed and paid there and then via paypal; However in view of the fact that I had just paid £16 for the little one only the day before, the design of which appeared to be incorporated into the bigger one, my conscience niggled me and I felt like I'd committed larceny. I contacted the seller again and explained I'd send her another fiver as I would have probably stretched to a tenner if I'd got into a bidding tussle.

She clearly thought I was bonkers but took the money with thanks... I don't think I'd make a very good businessman but at least I slept peacefully that night.

Both brooches are by the same 1980's designer and are marked Banana Bob (stop sniggering at the back). They are both designed by Annie Venditti, a former American professional level figure skater. Apparently it's "creative jewellery" that sold in better department stores in the 1980s-1990s. It's highly collectable and is in various styles including Art Nouveau, Deco and Victorian. Metal elements were often vintage, the crystals and rhinestones were top quality. Not that these two have crystals and rhinestones.

So there you go... a snip at twice the price and y' learn noo stuff everyday. I've had a shuftie for some of her other pieces going elsewhere and it's priced at anything between $40 and £100 so I'm quite chuffed, at least if I get bored with them I can pass 'em on without loss. Not everyone's cup o' tea, but I like 'em, and I suppose that's what counts eh?.

Now then EB, what is this silly idea of prudence and less vociferous nonsense? Come on man! If you have something to say, then damn well say it. After all, its not held you back before!

    Grizzly:

I bought the same pin last time I was in Glasgow at the Kelvingrove Museum. It's a beaut and my favorite. They had a lot of MacIntosh's original murals and furniture there. He always represented to me the bridge between the Arts & Crafts movement and the Art Noveau. The pin is great; congrats on the eBay success.

Thanks Blupiper, it definitely stood out as being very distinctive and stylish pin and colours will accentuate and compliment my new kilt. I do like looking for unusual pins.
