    I hate floods! Been through too many of them...so thought I'd be fine up on a mesa. I am, but the runoff from the mesa made quite a muddy mess of the base of the mesa. Its flashflood season in the Canyonlands for sure.

    But I missed the mess that closed Hwy 89 below town. Had some friends get stuck in the mud though.

    Down the canyon the river rose 4 feet the last night from flashfloods down the side canyons. Would have lost a lot of our gear if the olde man hadn't had to get up in the wee hours to relieve himself. Noticed the kitchen gear floating away and woke the boatmen. We had the situation under control after 2 1/2 hours....lots of gear to recover and move.
