Just so everyone is straight about how I got the car.
It was the classic case of being in the right place, at the right time. This car was previously owned by a gentleman who lives around the corner from me. He purchased it in 2003 and put only 2,000km on it. He actually had the garage he kept this car in carpeted. He was recently diagnosed with Cancer so felt it was time to pass the car on.
I saw it parked in his driveway with a For Sale sign. Each time I talked to him he lowered the price. Eventually I took the keys and ran REAL fast feeling that I had just stolen his car. I paid so little for it that I can afford gas to drive it.
As it is I only hope that I can continue to treat this car with the reverence that her previous owners obviously had for her.

Wow! I love Jags, and that one is a beauty!
I have a black SL, so PM me if you want any tips on taking care of black paint.

"Ooh, Ah do lark thaa-a-a"
Many happy miles, Steve, and to your good lady. Are you going to carpet your garage in a heavy X-Marks PV?
Folks, I had never met Steve before Kilt Kamp, but reflecting back on the time, I must say that he seemed to have some kind of a not-quite-there air about him, a whistful distractedness at times. Perhaps this thread explains that observation? I am reminded of Mr Toad:-
'They found him in a sort of a trance, a happy smile on his face... At intervals he was still heard to murmur, "Poop-poop!"'
You will just have to imagine one of those yellow face icons with a greenish envious tinge to it.
Seriously well done, Steve!

Hey, if I go to the next kilt camp in BC, will you pick me up at the airport in it?

Good call on the vanity plates, hopefully your luck holds out for those too.
I thought about vanity plates, but sprnmkr is too long, I could do just SPORAN, but that doesn't really work.
BAGMAN would probably just get me pulled over as a very braggy bank robber

Steve: Excellent choice on plates -- hopefully it's not taken (unlikely, I'd think). As for the car, I'm severely bending the "Do not covet" commandment .
Artificer: How about ARTFCR -- here in NM we get 7 so could even go with ARTIFCR.
Rob.
P.S. Prayers are being offered for the previous owner.

Very impressive! Certainly a stellar acquisition however it happened.
So, when are you carpeting your garage?

And you get to drive it in a very beautiful part of the World....I'm so jealous.
Best wishes for a long and maintenance free relationship from a guy who SO covets an MK4 but will probably never get one...
....and, remember, I;ve never known a Jaguar owner in the US who didn't have an old Oldsmobile parked behind his garage for transport while the Jag was in the shop...
