Btw, Harold did a fantastic job. Several time I have seen his projects on here. He's a talented guy.
That is a very valid point OB. Cheers to you Sir

I own some sporran suspenders. My issue was the sporran weight constantly pulled my belt down, making adjustments necessary and often. I also prefer the strap angle esthetics to the suspender chain dangling down vertically.

And cheers to you, Mike.
TJ: I have also experimented with hangers and found that same thing to occur. I tend to carry my things with me. Keys (I carry a pretty weighty keychain that makes popping the fog into my pocket very convenient and secure), smartphone (I carry a man-sized one for my man-sized fingers), and billwell (not a billfold, not a wallet--a billwell), coin pouch (though less often these days), and earbuds for my smartphone.
Even though this doesn't seem like a lot whilest trousered (the weight is redistributed), whilest kilted it can be a challenge with hangers. I learned to cinch my belt tightly and soldier on...then I took the advice some of the chaps here and got a strap (never have worn a chain--kilts are too expensive to risk a chain).
I don't mind a hanger once-in-a-while, though I prefer a strap for the most-part.

I wear my sporran from my dirk belt with a single three inch strap similar to the way Liam Neeson wore one in the film "Rob Roy".

This sporran was made by Donnie at Wyvern and I could not be more pleased. However, if you are a waistcoat afficionado this won't work.
Rondo
P.S. Also note that the sporran and dirk belt were both made to function together in this way. A standard dirk belt and sporran will not work unless modified.

I cant'agree with your statement Rondo that a standard dirk belt and sporran will not work unless modified. Of course the sporran has to have a hodder strap, but I have a number of kilt/dirk belts with buckles (non plate types) where the hodder strap fits nicely over the buckle. The buckles also have a flat enough profile to be worn under waistcoasts. Below are a couple of pics of sporrans that have been modified from their original incarnations
First is Figheadair's which has a MoD brass cantle. There is a photo, somewhwere on the forum, with him wearing it with a waistcoat.XMTS Figheadair's sporran.JPG
The second is a Cragie Original where I added a hodder strap

DownUnder,
I was mainly speaking of the belts one sees with a standard style waist plate that nearly every online vendor sells. None of my 3 dirk belts is that style as i feel they look too uniform. Nothing worse than showing up at an event and seeing three other fellows wearing the same kilt, sporran, cap etc. If you get my meaning.
Farmer Jones,
Thanks, I had it made locally along with 2 others that are less fancy. If I remember correctly it was under $80 US including the buckle[s].

Absolutely understand where you are coming from Rondo. Although I always wear a belt with the kilt ( not usually when wearing a waistcoat unless wearing pictured sporrans) I never wear a plate style buckle. BTW very much like your set up. Cheers
