Kilted at the Ellicottville (western NYS) Fall Festival this past Sunday

The place was packed, but I think I was the only one in a kilt. Got called a dress and a skirt (once each), both time from vendors. Soon as I got there, couple of maybe 10 year old boys wanted a picture with me. Okay. Plenty of positive comments and a number of pleasant discussions. So what do you all think of my dress-up-and-go-to-festival gear? I still think the kilt is an inch too long!

Thanks Chas. Always thinking. I thought cream colored hose would go good with red flashes. I have lovat green, lovat blue and black hose, but the green and blue are almost too matchy-matchy with my tartan. I want a pair of red hose, then I could wear my tartan flashes.

Oops! That belt is one I made!

Will be out again this weekend kilted, but don't know if I'll be able to get any pics...

Frank, I think your kilt is perfect; It's at your natural waist and it ends at the top of the knee. I don't think I'd want it andy shorter but, that's just my opinion.
My wife and I used to do a ski weekend every February at Holiday Valley (& sometimes HoliMont). We always stayed at a BB called the Ilex Inn. Very quaint town, in a really beautiful part of New York.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. Nile

Nile, our middle son got married at Holiday Valley 6 years ago this past weekend. We generally go out for their anniversary (a great excuse to see our grandson), but this is the first time we rented a place on the mountain outside of Ellicottville. I will check that B&B out, but we just bought our own B&B, a 2012 fiberglass travel trailer. Pick it up Saturday down in NJ.

 Cheers!
