    Kilt Rentals for Masonic Event

    Hello All,
I'm looking for a kilt rental package for 8-10 Masonic Lodge Officers for the Thursday before Burns night 2014. Do you know of a vendor that rents masonic tartan? As an aside, I am seeking Crawford modern Highland dress to purchase for myself. I'm in the Dayton, OH area. Hope you can assist or point me in the right direction. Thanks!

    First off,

Secondly, it's highly unlikely that you'll find a rental place with a relatively specialty tartan like one of the Masonic tartans (as I understand it, there are several).

Generally speaking you'll find lots of Black Watch, Royal Stewart, Scottish National, and that sort of thing.

If you're in Ohio you're just one state away from USAKilts, one of our XMarks advertisers, if they don't happen to have it on-hand they can certainly get it for you.

    Cheers
    ith:

Thanks for the response Artificer. Maybe I can go with "Plan B" and get plain black. Not optimal, but, it would ensure we all match and still meets the objective, I guess.

You could check with USA Kilts. As I understand they do rentals, and they're over in Pennsylvania. I don't know that they'd have exactly what you're looking for, but it couldn't hurt to ask.
    They're an advertiser here.

I also endorse using an XMarks advertiser but if that is too far away then I would call any tux rental outfit. Most do not rent kilts but they are very likely to know of someone who does such rentals.

    First, from Southern California.

I, too, will vouch for USA Kilts. They are excellent quality and value. Their customer service is excellent.

I cannot speak for US kilt rental nor really for any kilt rental as I have never used one.

But there has been previous discussion which might be of interest regarding Masonic tartans such as http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-tartan-75210/ but the chances of finding any of them for rental is probably small and it's not mandatory to wear a Masonic tartan at Masonic events in any case. Rentals tend to have a limited choice of tartans to chose from and if you want all the Lodge officers to wear the same one it might be advisable to book early, especially given the time of year.

From what I understand, very few kilt makers are allowed to use the "official" Masonic Tartan (out of Utah), so I am not sure if it's something that USA Kilts would have on hand or could get their hand on.

There is a site that sells Masonic Tartan kilts, up to and including great kilts, but I'm not sure if it is allowed for me to put the link in here as I doubt that they are a sponsor here.

*Sigh* Since every Grand Lodge is independent from every other Grand Lodge, there really is no overarching generally recognized Masonic tartan. Work with your own Grand Lodge. If they have one, fine, but good luck finding a bunch of them already stitched up, so the best is to have the fellows just wear their own tartans or something like Royal Stewart that many people think is universal.
