    Also, having just acquired a pair of hose like the ones pictured by Kyle (in Ancient Green) I can say that House of Cheviot make stellar hose and that you will not be disappointed one bit.

    Pipers hose usually have what is referred to as "popcorn tops" which are thick hose tops with a very distinctive pattern . Kilt tops, I think, are also known a hose toppers which are knitted to go over your hose cuffs. They can be knitted in whatever design you like. Kilt hose are the whole sock that you buy from vendors in a variety of quality, and knit design. Someone maybe able to post pics of the styles you asked about.
