So what are you wearing currently in lieu of the sporran molach, Kyle?

At the moment, I either wear my Scottish Pine marten sporran from Kate Macpherson, or a full dress sporran from Ian Grant made of blackish grey mink fur with a silver cantle that has acanthus leaf detailing and tassels with matching bells. I'm still searching for the "perfect" full dress sporran, and I do have one in mind, but it's waaaaay out of my price range at the moment!

Here is my evening wear sporran. It is goat hair with a sterling silver cantle and ermine tails. Smaller than a horse hair and definitely not cookie cutter, the only downside is it doesn't get as much use as I'd like.

Very smart! I especially like the use of ermine for the tassels - very unique!

For formal events I usualy wear a goat hair sporran

But on occasions wear my musquash/muskrat sporran

I also have a sealskin sporran that originally could have been a twin of yours Nathan, but I changed out the cantle to one that is the same as the one on my goathair sporran.

Cheers,
These examples are very smart looking indeed. I suppose I could always wear my full mask fox (pictured above) but I just prefer it with day wear as the taxidermy lacks a certain elegance. Also, I have the front paws and have experimented with affixing them, but on that particular sporran, I feel like they detract rather than add to the look. That said, I've seen a lifelike six tassel full mask badger with ornate silver tassel bells (possibly A&SH Officer's sporran?) which would be over the top with tweed.
There have been some absolutely unique and beautiful sporrans on display! So glad I started this thread. I want to 'Aye' everyone's post but alas, I cannot! Keep the full dress sporrans coming!

I agree. Here's a variant of that design made by Kate Macpherson. It's a badger (European species) with 6 horse hair tassels, plain silver cones and a plain silver cantle. I think this style of full mask sporran is absolutely gorgeous for black tie affairs where Highland dress is worn. Of course, since Kate Macpherson creates her sporrans from scratch, you could easily supply her with your own cantle and cones. Apologies for the small image.

Like a lot of fwllows, I am becoming quite fond of horsehair sporrans. I haven't ever worn one but they look so dashing!
My go-to sporran is a black one with some very detailed tooling by Tom Hays. I don't have a dedicated "evening" sporran but at the moment I attend so few black tie events (read virtually none) that I simply cannot justify the expense. If I did, however, it would be horsehair or fur with a snazzy cantle.
