Looks interesting. I may get one. Thanks!

Frank, thanks for starting this thread. I've been following along and enjoying all the Balmoral bonnet info. When you do get yours, be sure to post us a picture here!

No problem Allen. I expect my 1st Scot headgear at Christmas. My wee lass is being somewhat coy about it, but I know something is coming! I do like that hand knit one through Etsy that the link was posted for. After the holiday I may get one of those. More to come!
Cheers,
Frank

Agreed. Thank you, Frank, for starting this thread.
I currently wear either a fore and aft hat whilst kilted or go bareheaded. I'd like either a tan or a navy balmoral.

Is the size the circumference of the band?

Off-the-rack sizes are indeed a joke. My motorcycle helmet is a size "L" because the "XL" by the same manufacturer was too small. (!) ...and the sizes are stamped/ cut right into the material of the helmet, so it was no error.
Regular readers know how much respect I have for John Hart at Keltoi, and it's especially good for me since he's just an hour and a half away from home. I'm a big believer in having your supplier do the measuring if that's at all possible and the comments about his professionalism are indeed well taken. Of course, like everyone else, he's at the mercy of his suppliers.
Always interested in these discussions, and wondering what I should wear with my Sheriffmuir - diced/ plain, etc. and also wondering about the same decisions as regards wearing it with other clothing than the kilt kit.
Thanks for sharing all this good info & opinion, folks!

That's it, Anne (and this should equate to the measure of your head, ideally)!

Which is why shopping for headwear for me is so darned frustrating. I fall between most hatters' small and extra small sizes generall.

Most hatters have sizes in Centimeters now. Mine is 57 for example.
