Tweed or sweater?
There is a local Burns Night supper coming up. I've heard it's quite casual so I don't have any real fears of upsetting anyone, but...... Since I don't yet have an Argyle, or PC, would a grey tweed be sufficient, or should I bring it down to a jumper and tie?
cheers,
Kirk

What have people worn in previous years? If it is really informal I would go with the sweater, if people dress up in suits and dresses I would go with the tweed.

I have a question, is the tweed a kilt jacket? If it is a regular sport coat I would say the sweater.

Agreed. Does the sponsoring organization have any photos posted from previous years?

A sweater would be casual, so would a jacket/shirt without tie.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with argyll jacket & vest with a tie as casual dress. Casual dress is somewhat undefined. Anything from t shirt & flip flops to full tweed & tie can be casual, depending on group standards. I agree with Griz & Dale, if youre in doubt.

Thanks gents! I was leaning towards the tweed with a regimental tie. Thinking a charcoal waistcoat as well. I have a new Boyd tartan kilt coming from USAkilts. (Very excited, by the way) once it gets here I'll start worrying about the hose.

You can't go wrong with this combination.
