First Formal Outing

Thank you all for your kind words. I love the sporran, as it was a Christmas gift from my wife. Nathan, thank you for the nits. I have read enough of your posts to know and respect your opinion. The flashes are tartan as I do not yet have any others. I debated on which shirt to wear, and I agree that next time I will not use the wing collar. I thought I had the flashes on the shin bone, but I may have missed the mark a bit. I believe I have eight pocket watches, and I thought my silver watch added a nice touch.

Again, thank you all. We are still very new to the kilt world but I find this site and it's membership to be a wonderful place to be.

8 pocket watches? I'm more than a little jealous! I just have the one for now! One last tip, not really a nit... I find when I wear my sporran so that the straps settle into that 45 degree joint where the front of my leg meets my hip, it sinks into the cavity and bends the kilt fabric and thus accentuates my belly a little. When I wear it a touch higher than that, everything flattens out nicely. Sometimes the downside of that is it can interfere with a longer waistcoat so it's a balancing act. You might try to raise the sporran up a tad for this reason.

Also, you are to be commended for being so open to feedback, Tomak. Everyone who said you nailed it was right. If I didn't study your outfit at your own request, I would only have noticed how nicely you and your wife were turned out and wouldn't have given any of the things I've mentioned in the thread a second thought.
