Believe me, Tobus, the thought crossed my mind! But then the better angels of my nature prevailed...
I'm hopeful that all who wanted one were able to get in on this offer.
Looking forward to seeing what folks do with theirs... Perhaps I should have titled this thread "The Artificer Full Employment Act"! (My greatest fear is that, as I'm waiting for my cousin to provide me with the pelt necessary to complete my project, I'll be way, way down in the queue by the time I'm able to send the necessaries to Artificer!)
Cheers,
SM

Not to put words in his mouth, but I vote that Artificer consider today's date as your entry into the queue. Of course, I don't have a dog in this fight LOL

Waiting for mine, just sent payment today will keep you all up to date. I will probably send it off to Scott, but if we all do that he will be busy for a while.

Yeah, and I know how he would hate having years worth of job security! Sorry, Scott!
You'll be hearing from me soon.

I had Robin ship mine directly to Scott. Hopefully he knows which one is mine! lol I had no idea half of xmarks was going to be employing his expert services.

I was contemplating the same thing, but thought better of it, in my case saving for the bag may take some time, though the cantle was far to good a deal to pass up.

No worries, with international post an invoice is required, so yours will come "with papers"
Just so everyone is up to speed, right at the moment my queue extends out to right around OCT1 for new projects, so that should be taken into account when planning your rebagging project.

Seeing the pictures that the other guys have posted that have already received theirs, makes me that much more excited for mine to show up (it was sent in the post this past Friday). I also was amazed at such a good deal and figured even if it did need some work it would still be worth it. As much as I would love to be able to get someone as talented as Scott to make a bag for it, I will have to try and muddle through, at least it gives me a reason to order some more leather from Tandy and add to my leather working tools a little bit. Will post a pic when mine shows up.

They're fairly close copies of mid-18th century cantles, such as the one in the Glasgow museum

Is it 18th century sporrans that you dislike? Or do you feel that these copies aren't accurate enough?
These 1953 MOD cantles are popular because they capture the essence of the 18th century look, are widely available, have the convenient snap system, and sometimes can be had much more cheaply than a handmade new 18th century cantle reproduction.
I bought one of these MOD sporrans, complete, a bit over a year ago for around $100 and I just bought two of these cantles for less than $100... very reasonable, I'd say.

I just don't care for the look of them. I think that you managed a bargain with the prices you paid but some of these have been known to sell for much higher. I saw one go on ebay for over $200. Everyone who likes these and who got in on this deal must be dancing with joy. I have to tip my hat to Shaun who let his fellow xmarkers in on the deal and didn't snap them all up to sell at a profit. Well done him.
