Edinburgh Kilt Walk 2014
A friend just sent this link with some photos of folks kilted up for the Edinburgh Kilt Walk. Looks like it was a lot of fun!

Without wishing to confuse this thread with the Song Title game, Mikilt, the title here does have a rhythm reminiscent of the Tennessee Bird Walk.

There are five of these events, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Speyside. I'm trying to work up the motivation to get fit and able enough to take part in the 2015 Speyside walk, it looks the nicest walk to me. I think I'll need to take inspiration from Martin and Mark on the forum and start posting a training log. Perhaps this is the start of me actually doing something positive about this.

I have completed the Edinburgh Kilt Walk two or three times in the past and it was a lot of fun and met lots of interesting people, ranging from full time kilt wearers to one-offs for the occasion.
The only caveat I would add that participants need to raise a certain amount for charity. Doing this once or twice is worthwhile but you can't expect the same friends to sponsor you year after year.
For the benefit of our newer members here's a link to photos from the 2008 Edinburgh Kilt Walk.

"fun" Alex? I doubt it. the most i walk is from the door to the car and during the fishing season i wade gently and slowly along the Clyde. But i feel i need to do this walk to give something back to the sick kids hospitals, i owe them big time; my son and now my grandson have both received life saving surgery in the Edinburgh and Glasgow Sicks Kids Hospitals.

Looks like good fun for a very worthy cause. Is the stadium Murrayfield? I wonder if it's a good sign or bad that I am starting to look at photo montages such as this and say: "oh, there's the MacKenzie tartan, there's Hunting Stewart, there's ....." All due to this forum, no doubt.
