I freely admit that I am by no account a highland historian, though I have learned much from those of you who are. Nor, am I a fashionista. That being said I can honestly say that I really like the feathers more than most of the fur or full mask sporrans I have seen.

It's been a long strange ride so far and I'm not even halfway home yet.
Very smart indeed! I saw this particular sporran (among other interesting wee beauties) at House of Labhran's website and on their Facebook page the other day.

I am on my own then when I say that I don't like it.
Never fear. There will most assuredly be other(s) who don't like it, too. As for me, I'm ambivalent. I kind of like it except for the muddled look between the cantle and the chains.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
Interestingly, I'm not super fond of the feathers without a mask from the donor bird. Hypothetically I should have loved this sporran because I myself own only one mask sporran, and it is made out of an owl. I fell in love with that sporran immediately. But the feathers without the bird face seem oddly too dainty to me... Like it lost the badass factor and moves closer to a feather boa in effect.
I have to give it props for being unique but traditional at the same time, but in all honesty the overall effect is not what I would have hoped for. Thanks for posting it! Neat to see.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of bird the skin came from? I am kind of a closet birdwatcher but I can't think what species has such short tight feathers in this colour?
