    Feather sporran?

Just came across this sporran labelled as a Feather Dress Sporran. Is this actually made of feathers or is it a name which reflects the appearance of the fur?

    http://houseoflabhran.com/highland-w...age-1900s.html

If it is made of feathers it mirrors the Korowai, a feathered cloak made here in New Zealand by Maori craftspeople, ancient examples of which are among our national treasures. Which gives me an obvious DIY idea.
    any help?

Thanks for such a quick response! It's a very interesting concept and I can see a lot of research coming up for me.

I freely admit that I am by no account a highland historian, though I have learned much from those of you who are. Nor, am I a fashionista. That being said I can honestly say that I really like the feathers more than most of the fur or full mask sporrans I have seen.

Very smart indeed! I saw this particular sporran (among other interesting wee beauties) at House of Labhran's website and on their Facebook page the other day.

It's lightyears away from what I expected. Usually I'm not a feather sporran kind of guy. This one I might be able to go for.

Never fear. There will most assuredly be other(s) who don't like it, too. As for me, I'm ambivalent. I kind of like it except for the muddled look between the cantle and the chains.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.
