    It gives you room to stride forward confidently. Without that extra "ease," as you moved your leg forward the apron would have to pull away to one side.

    And the deep pleat gives you some room to rebuild the apron should your sweetie eat a few too many sweeties and grow a bit. I have had an apron rebuilt on my first kilt and can still get some use out of it.
