You can't "out-bling" the happy couple on their wedding day. It's not possible. Even if you wear all the bling that you own!

In THCD, the black barathea silver button Argyll, worn with a long neck tie, is suitable for formal daywear aka morning dress.

Totally agree, unless it's a morning coat affair then wear the tweed.

Depend on the level of formality I can adjust the jacket/vest combo.

I am not worried about out blinging the bride. She knows Im a kiltie & there will be pipers.
Determining formally of dress is kind of hard here. Dressing up for most is black jeans, white shirt & black leather vest. Casual dress means you can wear your dress clothes.
Grizzly did you see this? He already answered the question as to formality which is why I stick with my recommendation of wearing the tweed.

Sorry Glen, I did see it but just to further confuse the issue, I have been to afternoon weddings where morning suits are still worn. It seems that up to 6.00pm aka daywear morning dress is a bit of a misnomer.

Still agree that tweed is the best option.

Sorry, knotty. My reply was to Andrew Breecher who suggested that black jackets should only be worn at night. I was pointing out that in the world of TCHD, that just isn't true. In your case, however, I'm still saying stick with tweed.

Generally speaking, black is best for evening wear and funerals. Midnight blue is far more interesting than black anyway and under artificial light it's generally appears blacker than black.

A midnight blue Argyll is a nice idea. My mom's boyfriend has one, and it is quite versatile.

As has been discussed many times on this forum, however, black is perfectly acceptable during the day as morning dress, in both Highland and Saxon attire.
